Tips & Talk 93 – How Best to Listen to THIS Podcast

It's Sue and thanks for joining me for Tips and Talk

Day. These are bite-sized topics that I pull from community questions

and things that I'm observing in the world of handmade small

Whether you're a first time listener or have been with me

from the very beginning,

which is getting close to eight years at this point,

the amount of content in this podcast can be overwhelming.

How do you find a particular episode you heard a while

ago and now you wanna revisit,

or what if you're after a specific topic that didn't apply

when it first aired,

but now makes sense to integrate into your plan?

Or if you're just joining us,

how do you find a past topic that was covered that

you wanna know more about?

I've got solutions to all of these situations,

and actually it led me to thinking overall,

how can you get the most out of listening to my

podcast? Over the years,

I've gotten a good handle on you.

You're a creative spirit who has the gift of making things

with your hands,

whether it's jewelry,

clothing, soaps,

candles, or something wonderful to eat.

It comes from you expertly merging the pieces together to form

a final product.

This is where one of your most heartfelt talents lies on

the business side.

You fall into a wider range.

You may just now be letting the idea of starting your

own business play around in your mind,

kind of like tinkerbells wand tapping here and there,

lighting up scenes of what it would look like and how

it could fit into your life.

Or you may have years of experience in a business of

your own and wanna stay up to date,

keep inspired,

or identify new ideas for business growth.

Taking all of this into account,

here's my suggestion on how to approach listening to the show.

Given that there are so many topics and options that you

can cover,

first, try and fit regular Gift Biz Unwrapped episode,

listening into your weekly plan.

The longer shows Air on Saturday and include a guest or

are one of our Special Bash or Boost episodes,

and then the midweek ones are short tips and talk single

focused podcasts.

Remember, you can listen to these shows at a faster speed

to get through them quicker too.

I find one and a quarter or even one and a

half speed to be ideal still at a pace to pick

up the content,

but quicker in terms of time spent.

It's also a super idea to double task or integrate podcast

listening on top of a routine activity that you already do,

like driving,

straightening the shop or getting some exercise.

When you build it into your routine,

it becomes second nature to stay caught up.

I also encourage you not to pass up certain shows because

the guest makes something different than you do.

Like if you make dog biscuits and my guest is a

woodworker, many times going outside your product scope provides original ideas

that can be applied directly or tweaked for your situation too.

If your time is tight and you must be selective,

watch for my weekly emails that summarize what each Saturday episode

is about.

That way you can make sure that you don't miss a

show that covers a topic you really need not getting my

Listen to each episode as it comes out.

When you subscribe or follow Gift Biz Unwrapped,

these episodes automatically download in whichever app you're using.

That's the easiest way to not miss anything.

After that's done,

I have two other options for targeting in on the specific

topics you're looking for.

If you go to gift biz unwrapped.com/topics,

you'll find episodes broken out by its main subject,

whether it's business tools or website development,

social media platform information,

or you'd like to narrow in on a specific product industry

and see how others got started or are growing.

It's all broken out by category for your easy reference,

even though multiple topics are discussed in each show,

I assign one main single category that makes the most sense,

so each show is only listed there.

Once I suggest taking a look here and then writing a

list of all the back shows that pique your interest,

then prioritize your listening list.

This is why I still number each episode so you can

easily find them in the lineup.

I only include in this Google Doc relevant shows.

Unfortunately, there are some that were perfect years ago,

but don't hold value or current direction for today.

Things change so rapidly,

don't they.

Another way to find discussion on a topic you're interested in

is to go to gift biz unwed.com/search.

There you can put in a search term like SEO,

wholesale craft shows and see all the podcasts where that topic

is covered.

When you click on the links in this search tool,

you'll be taken directly to the actual part of the podcast

talking on your search term.

This is helpful and different from the other list because a

topic can be talked about in a show,

but not be the overarching theme of the episode.
