022 – An annual salary made in 3 months with Lana Horton of Make a Memory

Lana-Horton-Photo2Lana Horton is 69 and when she looks back she wonders where time went. She has two children in businesses of their own and four wonderful grandchildren.

Lana started her first business at 23 with $2,ooo. It was an all-inclusive bridal shop and became the largest store in Ohio and the only one to carry exclusive designs from Paris. She sold the store with a large profit when she decided to move to California, stay at home and raise her children.

That didn’t last long. She then started Punch Connection and invented a tool that was patented. The business led to doing infomercials with the first show selling 250,000 kits in one airing! Over the next 10 years, Lana sold products on QVC, HSN and Lifetime.

Then she retired wanting to spend time with her grandchildren. As little ones always do, they began to grow up and Lana again found time to spare. She talked with her daughter about a new business idea she had … and that is how Make A Memory was born. They are now in their fourth year of this family business and she says they “work together like oil.”

Lana only sells her bears at events and in person. She does not have a website. Think of it. All this success with a simple business model.

Wow, thanks for sharing this! I was so encouraged by her informational background experience!

Her positive perosnality and sense of humor is refreshing and definitely a plus in the entrepreneurial realm. I’m motivated to persevere through every challenge and overwhelming obstacle.

(I’m waiting to see her work; I made several attempts via Google but came up empty. Thanks!)

Great comment Michelle. Unfortunately Lana doesn’t have a website. It’s all done face-to-face. But you can see an example of one of her bears on our Pinterest Board called Gift Biz Unwrapped under The Ribbon Print Company account. She just sent me a bear too. So I’ll take a picture and add it to the show notes early next week.

How do I get in contact with Lana? My daughter had a cheer competition last weekend and we ended up purchasing the Husky dog with my daughter’s cheer colors, and while we were at competition her husky dog was stolen out of her cheer backpack. I would really like to purchase another one because my daughter was so heartbroken.

Sue, thank you so much for forwarding this to her! I really hope she does contact me soon. I have tried to reach her through Facebook and Facebook messenger… no luck yet. I know she has to be very busy.

Just heard from Lana – I’m contacting you with directions on how to get this taken care of. Her words, “No worries, we’ll get you all fixed up!”

Oh dear – can’t find where we were communicating elsewhere. So here’s the info … email her daughter at Exfundraisers@aol.com and she’ll take care of it. Let’s get a smile back on your daughter’s face :o)
