Hi there,
Speaker:It's Sue and thanks for joining me for Tips and Talk
Speaker:Day. These are bite sized topics that I pull from community
Speaker:questions and things that I'm observing in the world of handmade
Speaker:small business.
Speaker:If you'd like to submit a topic DME over on Instagram
Speaker:at Gift Biz Unwrapped.
Speaker:Before we get started,
Speaker:I'm gonna share a secret with you.
Speaker:One of my superpowers is the ability to get an enormous
Speaker:number of tasks and projects done each and every week.
Speaker:I easily meet deadlines,
Speaker:rarely forget to do something,
Speaker:and know at the start of each day what needs priority,
Speaker:attention and action type A personality.
Speaker:Yes, and a follow through on the Kobe assessment,
Speaker:which should have given me the clue,
Speaker:but it wasn't until people started commenting to me that I
Speaker:realized not everyone naturally knows how to do this.
Speaker:It's the biggest single contributor to the growth I always see
Speaker:in my businesses without spending hours and hours working either.
Speaker:It's about focus and doing the right things efficiently.
Speaker:Prompted by all the questions on how I do this,
Speaker:I went about finding a way to help you perform at
Speaker:a higher level.
Speaker:Two, I analyzed my methods and formalized my process,
Speaker:which is one many of my coaching clients now also follow.
Speaker:You can use it too.
Speaker:It's all part of a tool called the Inspired Daily Planner
Speaker:made specifically for gifters,
Speaker:bakers, crafters,
Speaker:and makers.
Speaker:Make no mistake,
Speaker:this is not your ordinary planner.
Speaker:First off,
Speaker:it comes with a video explaining my productivity strategy and the
Speaker:physical planner isn't dated,
Speaker:so you can start using it the second it arrives at
Speaker:your doorstep,
Speaker:and that's not all included for each day is a motivational
Speaker:or business building tip and plenty of space to capture and
Speaker:book in time for to-dos scheduled appointments and all those ideas
Speaker:that are now getting lost.
Speaker:You can watch the video for free and then get your
Speaker:inspired daily planner@giftbizunwrapped.com
Speaker:slash inspired.
Speaker:What would it be like if you could own a spot
Speaker:in someone's mind where whenever they thought of you,
Speaker:they associated it with warm positive feelings?
Speaker:Kind of like what happens when you wrap yourself in a
Speaker:soft, fluffy blanket after a long,
Speaker:difficult day.
Speaker:It's a place you dream of returning to often,
Speaker:and even thinking about it helps boost your mood until you
Speaker:can be there again.
Speaker:Wouldn't it be something if you could have this effect on
Speaker:people you interact with each day,
Speaker:have them think about you and your business in this way.
Speaker:Imagine what it could do for your sales.
Speaker:Now wrap this imaginary blanket around you a little tighter and
Speaker:envision settling in with a warm cup of Coco because I'm
Speaker:gonna tell you how this is possible.
Speaker:I was listening to a podcast recently called Cleaning Up the
Speaker:Mental Mess.
Speaker:Dr. Leaf's guest was the Surgeon General of the United States,
Speaker:Dr. Vivic Murphy,
Speaker:and a story he shared got me thinking about how to
Speaker:heighten emotional bonds with people overall and the impact that it
Speaker:can have for you with your business,
Speaker:community, prospects and customers alike.
Speaker:Being a communications major in college,
Speaker:this kind of thing always draws my attention.
Speaker:Dr. Murphy shared a story about a classmate from his first
Speaker:year in medical school.
Speaker:Her father needed surgery and was asked who his favorite doctor
Speaker:was through that entire experience,
Speaker:think of all the people that he would've interacted with,
Speaker:his primary doctor,
Speaker:various specialists,
Speaker:technicians, nurses.
Speaker:Interestingly enough of all the medical people he encountered,
Speaker:his surgeon made the biggest impact and he liked him the
Speaker:best. Now,
Speaker:the surgeon only visited her dad probably once pre-op and for
Speaker:about five minutes a day for a few days post-op,
Speaker:but he was the one selected as the doctor most liked.
Speaker:Here's why the surgeon didn't stay at a distance conducting a
Speaker:non-personal routine check-in so he could continue on going through his
Speaker:rounds. Nope,
Speaker:he sat bedside,
Speaker:held the father's hand and looked into his eyes When he
Speaker:spoke, he listened and responded in a way that left the
Speaker:father feeling seen and truly cared about,
Speaker:and all of this was done in short little bits of
Speaker:time. I might add.
Speaker:This is a huge reminder.
Speaker:It's not the quantity of time that you spend with people,
Speaker:it's about the quality of time.
Speaker:Being fully present has the power to stretch time.
Speaker:It allows you to take a few minutes and create a
Speaker:profound experience that becomes ingrained in someone's mind long into the
Speaker:future. Too often today,
Speaker:we're looking to make an impact on a large number of
Speaker:people with a single action.
Speaker:How many people can we reach with our ads?
Speaker:How much are we growing our social media following through mass
Speaker:posts, or how many new people are we getting on our
Speaker:email lists?
Speaker:Which show should I participate in based on the attendance numbers
Speaker:that they expect?
Speaker:While these can all be helpful,
Speaker:it's when you get to the one-on-one interactions where you can
Speaker:truly leave your mark.
Speaker:Consider your own experience with this.
Speaker:Is there a particular teacher that you remember most,
Speaker:even after all these years?
Speaker:You remember their name and maybe even how they looked or
Speaker:certain mannerisms they had,
Speaker:and these are still present in your mind even after all
Speaker:the others are pretty much forgotten.
Speaker:What about a special moment with a friend who lifted you
Speaker:up in some way when you were low?
Speaker:It might even have been a coworker or someone you didn't
Speaker:even know who did or said something special that touched you.
Speaker:Just so I'm thinking right now about a Starbucks barista.
Speaker:She wrote a sweet extra note on my coffee cup since
Speaker:she knew I needed a little extra care one day.
Speaker:Or what about a wonderful night out at a new restaurant
Speaker:that you tried that was made even more special because of
Speaker:the friendliness and attentiveness of your server?
Speaker:I bet you went back another night after an experience like
Speaker:that too.
Speaker:It may even have become one of your favorite places,
Speaker:not just because of the food,
Speaker:but because of the personal interaction.
Speaker:Five minutes focused attention on a single customer for that short
Speaker:amount of time.
Speaker:Imagine what it can do for the emotional attachment someone feels
Speaker:that is then associated with you.
Speaker:The resulting support can come in many forms,
Speaker:buying your products of course,
Speaker:but also sharing your posts on social,
Speaker:participating in a cause or an event you are involved in
Speaker:or talking about your business to one of their friends.
Speaker:I want you to keep this ability that you have at
Speaker:the top of your mind as you interact with people.
Speaker:Watch what happens.
Speaker:I suspect it won't only be great for your sales numbers,
Speaker:but for your heart too.
Speaker:That's a wrap.
Speaker:I'm a get to the point kind of girl,
Speaker:and this is what you can expect from these quick midweek
Speaker:sessions. Now it's your turn.
Speaker:Go out and fulfill that dream of yours.
Speaker:Share your handmade products with us.
