Here is your host Gift Biz Gal Sue Moon Height.

Speaker:

Hi there,

Speaker:

it's Sue and thanks for joining me here today on the

Speaker:

podcast. Before we get started,

Speaker:

I'm gonna share a secret with you.

Speaker:

One of my superpowers is the ability to get an enormous

Speaker:

number of tasks and projects done each and every week.

Speaker:

I easily meet deadlines,

Speaker:

rarely forget to do something.

Speaker:

I know at the start of each day what needs priority,

Speaker:

attention and action type A personality.

Speaker:

Yes, and a follow through on the Kobe assessment,

Speaker:

which should have given me the clue.

Speaker:

But it wasn't until people started commenting to me that I

Speaker:

realized not everyone naturally knows how to do this.

Speaker:

It's the biggest single contributor to the growth I always see

Speaker:

in my businesses without spending hours and hours working either.

Speaker:

It's about focus and doing the right things efficiently.

Speaker:

Prompted by all the questions on how I do this,

Speaker:

I went about finding a way to help you perform at

Speaker:

a higher level.

Speaker:

Two, I analyzed my methods and formalized my process,

Speaker:

which is one many of my coaching clients.

Speaker:

Now also follow.

Speaker:

You can use it too.

Speaker:

It's all part of a tool called the Inspired Daily Planner,

Speaker:

made specifically for Gifters,

Speaker:

bakers, crafters,

Speaker:

and makers.

Speaker:

Make no mistake,

Speaker:

this is not your ordinary planner.

Speaker:

First off,

Speaker:

it comes with a video explaining my productivity strategy and the

Speaker:

physical planner isn't dated,

Speaker:

so you can start using it the second it arrives at

Speaker:

your doorstep.

Speaker:

And that's not all included for each day is a motivational

Speaker:

or business building tip and plenty of space to capture and

Speaker:

book in time for to-dos scheduled appointments and all those ideas

Speaker:

that are now getting lost.

Speaker:

You can watch the video for free and then get your

Speaker:

Today we're talking about hashtags,

Speaker:

a topic that's been surrounded by a lot of confusion,

Speaker:

and if you think you've got it all down,

Speaker:

Pat, let me put it out there,

Speaker:

that what you knew to be true even two years ago

Speaker:

has all changed today,

Speaker:

the joys of social media.

Speaker:

What are hashtags?

Speaker:

Why use them?

Speaker:

What's the right number of hashtags to use,

Speaker:

and how do I figure out which ones are the best

Speaker:

for my business?

Speaker:

Answers to these questions and more coming your way right now.

Speaker:

Hi there,

Speaker:

and welcome to the last Bash of the Year.

Speaker:

We have a couple of your fellow handmade creators here today

Speaker:

who you're gonna hear from a little bit later.

Speaker:

But first,

Speaker:

I want to unravel this crazy complicated topic of hashtags.

Speaker:

Should you be using them?

Speaker:

Maybe you've never used them and you're thinking about adding them.

Speaker:

Maybe you've seen things changing,

Speaker:

you just don't know.

Speaker:

Maybe you don't even know what hashtags are.

Speaker:

So we're gonna talk about all of that really quickly before

Speaker:

we get into showcases because after all,

Speaker:

this is a bash hashtags along with everything associated with social

Speaker:

media, they continue to change.

Speaker:

It's great for people who are experts on certain social media

Speaker:

platforms because it always gives them content to talk about.

Speaker:

You know,

Speaker:

hashtags change how you should be posting on social media is

Speaker:

changing. What portions of platforms you should be using are changing.

Speaker:

It's always changing.

Speaker:

Social is always changing.

Speaker:

So for experts,

Speaker:

that's great.

Speaker:

For those of us who want to use social media to

Speaker:

grow our business,

Speaker:

it's confusing because it is changing.

Speaker:

And if we want to align with best practices,

Speaker:

that means we have to stay on top of everything all

Speaker:

the time,

Speaker:

learn the new things,

Speaker:

and then rearrange our strategy accordingly.

Speaker:

So let's get some clarity today on hashtags specifically in terms

Speaker:

of should we be using them,

Speaker:

should we not,

Speaker:

with what is current right now.

Speaker:

So this is not just me telling you,

Speaker:

I've resourced a couple of the experts that I follow on

Speaker:

different platforms,

Speaker:

merged information together.

Speaker:

I will enhance that with my own experiences and hopefully at

Speaker:

the end you're gonna get more clarity about hashtags overall,

Speaker:

not just for what's current now,

Speaker:

but also what to do in the future.

Speaker:

And I think the best place to start is defining specifically

Speaker:

what hashtags are in case you are not sure.

Speaker:

Think of hashtags as folders in a filing cabinet.

Speaker:

If you were wanting to know about your contract with Comcast,

Speaker:

you're gonna open a filing cabinet,

Speaker:

pull out the file that says Comcast,

Speaker:

and there are all the bills that you've paid,

Speaker:

probably your contract,

Speaker:

maybe some notes on services that you've had performed,

Speaker:

things like that.

Speaker:

They're all nice in a little file folder.

Speaker:

That's pretty much what a hashtag is.

Speaker:

When you take that online,

Speaker:

then think of hashtags like words you would put into a

Speaker:

Google search event.

Speaker:

If you are looking for upcoming autumn festivals in your area,

Speaker:

you would input autumn festivals in your hometown or whatever,

Speaker:

and then all of those things would come up.

Speaker:

Those are two examples of what hashtags do in terms of

Speaker:

services they provide you on social media.

Speaker:

It's used for discovery to be found.

Speaker:

And so people want to put hashtags in posts because you

Speaker:

feel like if you're putting the right hashtags in,

Speaker:

then people organically are going to find you.

Speaker:

And if they like what that post is,

Speaker:

then they're either going to go to your website,

Speaker:

follow a link that's in the post direct message,

Speaker:

you from that post,

Speaker:

et cetera.

Speaker:

So it's all about discoverability.

Speaker:

Also, I don't know if everybody is familiar with this,

Speaker:

but you can follow hashtags on Instagram.

Speaker:

So if there's a certain topic that you're interested in,

Speaker:

you don't just have to follow accounts on Instagram.

Speaker:

You can also follow specific hashtags.

Speaker:

And again,

Speaker:

this can be great for discovery and even organic,

Speaker:

even though yes,

Speaker:

when you pay,

Speaker:

you put dollars behind posts,

Speaker:

they go further.

Speaker:

But even with organic discovery,

Speaker:

hands still be a thing,

Speaker:

albeit on a much smaller basis.

Speaker:

Couple of other things to know about hashtags is anyone can

Speaker:

use any hashtag or you can add your own hashtag.

Speaker:

So if you have a hashtag like you've created or thought

Speaker:

up some fun name,

Speaker:

maybe it's even like the slogan of your business,

Speaker:

you could add that as a hashtag if you wanted to,

Speaker:

but you don't own a hashtag.

Speaker:

You might have seen people who,

Speaker:

like I have a hashtag gift biz unwrapped,

Speaker:

I use it.

Speaker:

Sometimes I don't use it.

Speaker:

Other times you could make a hashtag of your own business,

Speaker:

but know that other people could use that same hashtag for

Speaker:

themselves. So anyone can go out and do hashtag gift biz

Speaker:

unwrapped or anything else.

Speaker:

So just know that you don't own it.

Speaker:

And if that were to happen,

Speaker:

like if someone were to pull up hashtag gift biz unwrapped,

Speaker:

they may see that it's not all things that are from

Speaker:

me. They could be from anybody.

Speaker:

There are also lots of variations on a single hashtag topic.

Speaker:

You know,

Speaker:

these hashtags can get niched down.

Speaker:

For example,

Speaker:

if you said handmade jewelry,

Speaker:

okay, there could also be handmade beta jewelry,

Speaker:

handmade silver jewelry,

Speaker:

handmade sterling silver jewelry made in Maryland.

Speaker:

You know,

Speaker:

like they can just keep going.

Speaker:

So all different types of versions of hashtags as well.

Speaker:

So that's definition and a few little facts about hashtags.

Speaker:

Now, where do you use hashtags?

Speaker:

In the beginning,

Speaker:

Twitter was the one who really initiated hashtags,

Speaker:

and you still will see hashtags today on tweets.

Speaker:

Instagram, when they came on the scene also incorporated hashtags and

Speaker:

they seem to be the big one.

Speaker:

They're the ones who used hashtags really more than anybody.

Speaker:

You currently can use up to 30 hashtags on any post

Speaker:

on Instagram.

Speaker:

As recently as July of 2020,

Speaker:

Facebook started saying,

Speaker:

Oh, you can use hashtags now in your Facebook posts.

Speaker:

They're now appropriate.

Speaker:

So everyone's kind of getting on the hashtag bandwagon,

Speaker:

if you will,

Speaker:

and it still works like this today.

Speaker:

But do you remember when Instagram was only hashtags,

Speaker:

but you have the ability within Instagram to automatically let your

Speaker:

post shoot over to Facebook.

Speaker:

In the past that looked bad because people were like,

Speaker:

Well, obviously this is an Instagram account that you are automating

Speaker:

over to Facebook.

Speaker:

Hashtags aren't appropriate on Facebook,

Speaker:

so we all know what you're doing.

Speaker:

And they would get less attention.

Speaker:

I was always advising if you were to do that,

Speaker:

if you automate your post to move over,

Speaker:

then go back into Facebook and remove those hashtags because it

Speaker:

wasn't appropriate for the platform.

Speaker:

Now that's kind of changed because Instagram will allow you to

Speaker:

have hashtags and Facebook is now saying it's okay too.

Speaker:

All right,

Speaker:

if you're confused at this point,

Speaker:

I get it because there's a lot that I'm talking about.

Speaker:

So let me circle this in a little bit tighter and

Speaker:

talk about the current direction.

Speaker:

For hashtags,

Speaker:

start with the number of hashtags I already mentioned on Instagram.

Speaker:

You officially can put in up to 30 hashtags on any

Speaker:

post. It seems like the sweet spot is somewhere between 10

Speaker:

and 15 hashtags for Instagram posts.

Speaker:

Okay? When you bump over to Facebook,

Speaker:

three to five looks like the sweet spot.

Speaker:

So that's a guideline for you of what to do.

Speaker:

Now having said that,

Speaker:

you're gonna wanna test for yourself.

Speaker:

And this gets to frequency,

Speaker:

like should I add hashtags to all my posts?

Speaker:

Should I add them to some?

Speaker:

Should I add them to none?

Speaker:

All of those are options for you.

Speaker:

And what you need to do is test this out for

Speaker:

yourself and see if your community and your group want hashtags.

Speaker:

Like hashtags if your viewership goes up or your reach goes

Speaker:

up because you're using hashtags.

Speaker:

If your followers seem to increase when you use hashtags,

Speaker:

I've heard some people saying that hashtags are great and are

Speaker:

driving a ton of traffic to their business.

Speaker:

There are other people who are saying,

Speaker:

You know what,

Speaker:

when I don't put any hashtags on my posts,

Speaker:

they seem to have better reach.

Speaker:

So it's all over the board.

Speaker:

There's no good answer for you with that other than test

Speaker:

it out.

Speaker:

The way you'll be able to judge,

Speaker:

especially on Instagram and Facebook,

Speaker:

is you go into your insights and look at your analytics.

Speaker:

You can look at different posts by reach and see which

Speaker:

posts are performing better.

Speaker:

And then you can look and see,

Speaker:

well, did I use hashtags on there?

Speaker:

Did I not use hashtags?

Speaker:

And then try and start seeing a trend.

Speaker:

The good news of all of this is it's not black

Speaker:

and white where if you're using hashtags,

Speaker:

you look like you're being inappropriate,

Speaker:

or if you are,

Speaker:

you're being inappropriate.

Speaker:

Everything is going where hashtags are involved at this point.

Speaker:

But let's talk about how you select what hashtags to use.

Speaker:

And I think this is a big point of confusion and

Speaker:

a point where a lot of people are getting it wrong.

Speaker:

I already said to test this out and it's gonna be

Speaker:

the same here,

Speaker:

but I want you to think of why you would even

Speaker:

bother with hashtags at all.

Speaker:

If you wanna use hashtags and create the little catalog online

Speaker:

that you would reference to your customers like me for Gift

Speaker:

Biz Unwrapped,

Speaker:

I might say,

Speaker:

Oh, if you wanna look at the podcast that I think

Speaker:

are the best for new businesses,

Speaker:

for example,

Speaker:

maybe there I would put gift biz unwrapped newbies,

Speaker:

you know,

Speaker:

and have a hashtag that's called that.

Speaker:

And then I could reference people over in Instagram to that

Speaker:

hashtag. You see what I mean?

Speaker:

This could be your products,

Speaker:

this could be shows you go to,

Speaker:

you could use your business name and then say craft shows.

Speaker:

So you could say,

Speaker:

if you're ever wanting to know which craft shows I'm attending,

Speaker:

go to whatever the business name is,

Speaker:

craft shows,

Speaker:

and it'll show you where I'll be next.

Speaker:

So you could use hashtags to categorize,

Speaker:

and in that way you'd be making your own hashtag,

Speaker:

remembering that other people could use your hashtag,

Speaker:

right? But most of it,

Speaker:

the majority of it,

Speaker:

when you customize it in that manner would be yours.

Speaker:

Here's a real important point that,

Speaker:

and this is when I was mentioning that a lot of

Speaker:

people get this wrong,

Speaker:

is the actual word selection.

Speaker:

When you're doing hashtags,

Speaker:

want you to think about what your ideal customer,

Speaker:

so someone who would buy your product would be Searchie for

Speaker:

from a hashtag basis.

Speaker:

Let me use an example of candles.

Speaker:

Surprise, surprise,

Speaker:

a hashtag that would be Cinnamon spice Candle.

Speaker:

So let's say you're promoting,

Speaker:

you're in the back of the workshop and you're making candles,

Speaker:

and these are the ones that you're doing and they happen

Speaker:

to be the cinnamon spice,

Speaker:

or they're part of a number of the candles that you're

Speaker:

making. One of your hashtags could be Cinnamon Spice Candles.

Speaker:

That would be something that someone who's in the market to

Speaker:

buy candles with,

Speaker:

Autumn Sense,

Speaker:

especially Cinnamon Spice,

Speaker:

would then find you because of that hashtag,

Speaker:

a hashtag that would not attract that person.

Speaker:

Your ideal customer would be something like candle maker.

Speaker:

You're describing what you do,

Speaker:

but you're not describing your product.

Speaker:

What ends up happening is you get a lot of followers

Speaker:

of people who are also making the same product.

Speaker:

You see what I mean?

Speaker:

So as you're thinking of hashtags,

Speaker:

don't think of your industry hashtags specifically,

Speaker:

unless you're just wanting to find other fellow candle makers to

Speaker:

continue using my example,

Speaker:

use a hashtag that represents the products that you sell that

Speaker:

your customers would be Searchie for.

Speaker:

Another thing that you can do with this is niche down

Speaker:

with a hashtag specifically so that it serves you.

Speaker:

For example,

Speaker:

if you're gonna be out at craft shows,

Speaker:

don't use a hashtag that says Autumn Craft shows,

Speaker:

because then you're gonna be in with craft shows that are

Speaker:

all over the country.

Speaker:

And obviously if it's a craft show that is local to

Speaker:

you, you wanna be getting walk-in customers into that show.

Speaker:

Instead, use a hashtag that maybe the show that you're attending

Speaker:

has already created like Bakersville September Craft Show.

Speaker:

So go a little further and see if there's already one

Speaker:

that's already being populated,

Speaker:

that is exactly to the show that you want Nicheing down

Speaker:

with. The other example that I did,

Speaker:

the Cinnamon Spice Candles,

Speaker:

that could be cinnamon spice,

Speaker:

soy candles,

Speaker:

cinnamon spice,

Speaker:

Candles in ceramic container.

Speaker:

You know,

Speaker:

like whatever,

Speaker:

like the more detail,

Speaker:

the more niche down is better as it applies to you

Speaker:

and your product.

Speaker:

And when I was talking about the craft shows using these

Speaker:

hashtags that specific events are using,

Speaker:

they'll usually say to you,

Speaker:

Oh, these are the hashtags that are associated with the event.

Speaker:

When you use those hashtags,

Speaker:

the event is likely to see that you've used the hashtag

Speaker:

and share your post forward too.

Speaker:

So that's also helpful,

Speaker:

not only for visibility for them,

Speaker:

but also visibility for you.

Speaker:

Again, as you're choosing hashtags,

Speaker:

I would also test,

Speaker:

and let's go with just Facebook for the time being,

Speaker:

let's say three to five hashtags to keep this simple,

Speaker:

choose different size hashtags.

Speaker:

Also choose some that are bigger,

Speaker:

some that are medium size if you will,

Speaker:

and some that are smaller.

Speaker:

So a little variety of the size of the hashtags.

Speaker:

When you go in and actually start choosing your hashtags,

Speaker:

you'll see how popular a hashtag is.

Speaker:

Test out a hashtag that is a more generic one that

Speaker:

has a million followers.

Speaker:

But then also the more niched ones too,

Speaker:

use a variety as you're selecting your hashtags.

Speaker:

Also know if you are gonna use a hashtag that's candles,

Speaker:

but you have no candles in the image that you're using.

Speaker:

The AI is gonna say,

Speaker:

Wait a minute,

Speaker:

are they playing games here with this post?

Speaker:

And trying to use a hashtag that isn't even representative or

Speaker:

applicable to the topic of the post.

Speaker:

So be careful with that.

Speaker:

But that can also give you clues into other hashtags to

Speaker:

use. So candles,

Speaker:

again, there's pictures of candles,

Speaker:

maybe there's certain wicks or there's scissors or there's a Starbucks

Speaker:

mug right in your picture.

Speaker:

And you could easily say,

Speaker:

Drinking Starbucks while I'm working on making the candles,

Speaker:

right? Starbucks is a very popular hashtag.

Speaker:

It could still be appropriate because you have a Starbucks mug

Speaker:

right in the photo.

Speaker:

See, you can play off of and be a little creative.

Speaker:

And when you do things like that with this Starbucks example,

Speaker:

it might also trigger people who aren't even Searchie for candles

Speaker:

to come in and find you.

Speaker:

So as you think of your pictures,

Speaker:

what else is in the image?

Speaker:

You could also do this with at mentions,

Speaker:

of course,

Speaker:

you know when you're actually tagging a picture,

Speaker:

but we're talking about hashtags now and you can use them

Speaker:

here too.

Speaker:

I would suggest a few standard hashtags that you play around

Speaker:

with and then some of these more custom ones for each

Speaker:

post that you do so that you can bring in and

Speaker:

attract more audience.

Speaker:

Cuz again,

Speaker:

the reason that we wanna focus and pay attention to hashtags

Speaker:

is more discovery for your business.

Speaker:

In summary,

Speaker:

still, there's a lot that I was talking about here,

Speaker:

a lot of points and facts and definitions and all of

Speaker:

that, but let's boil it down to something here at the

Speaker:

end. And that is hashtags kind of a mixed bag and

Speaker:

they continue to change.

Speaker:

The good news with that is you have a lot of

Speaker:

flexibility in your testing.

Speaker:

You're not gonna look like you're wrong if you use or

Speaker:

don't use hashtags,

Speaker:

but one thing is certain now,

Speaker:

and this is totally different than the way hashtags were even

Speaker:

two years ago,

Speaker:

don't spend a ton of time curating professionally thought through lists

Speaker:

of hashtags that is no longer necessary.

Speaker:

The power that hashtags once had has gone down,

Speaker:

but they're still valuable and it still makes sense to use

Speaker:

them. I mean,

Speaker:

I remember there was a time when I put in hours

Speaker:

figuring out different hashtags that I would use.

Speaker:

I had 15 different hashtag lists.

Speaker:

I would rotate in different ones based on what the images

Speaker:

were and that was right for that time,

Speaker:

no longer needed.

Speaker:

Look at the results in your own audience,

Speaker:

do some testing and determine what works and then mix things

Speaker:

up, add in some fun hashtags that you don't even know

Speaker:

if they're gonna work.

Speaker:

They're not going to hurt you,

Speaker:

they can only help you.

Speaker:

So try things out.

Speaker:

Discoverability is what we want and this is one way to

Speaker:

do it,

Speaker:

especially if you're not putting dollars behind your posts and you

Speaker:

want some people to find you organically.

Speaker:

The other thing that is absolutely for sure is this information

Speaker:

is good for today and it can always change.

Speaker:

We just never know.

Speaker:

You can also ask questions in Gift Biz Breeze,

Speaker:

the Facebook group,

Speaker:

because we can chat about that there.

Speaker:

But I know there's been so much confusion around this topic.

Speaker:

The good news is read the Sigh of Relief because the

Speaker:

brackets of what's acceptable and what's not has been dropped.

Speaker:

And you can go through and use the guidelines we just

Speaker:

discussed here and have fun with the hashtags and see how

Speaker:

they can help your business and find a custom hashtag that

Speaker:

you wanna use or try and use and see what happens

Speaker:

for you from there.

Speaker:

Any questions on hashtags before we go on to the showcases?

Speaker:

None for me,

Speaker:

Anita, you always have questions?

Speaker:

Okay. All right.

Speaker:

If there's no questions,

Speaker:

then let's go ahead and move on to the showcases.

Speaker:

For those of you who are listening versus those of you

Speaker:

who are here already know this,

Speaker:

but for those who are listening,

Speaker:

bashes are something that I started a little bit earlier this

Speaker:

year. This is the last Bash of the year because we

Speaker:

are all focusing and putting a lot of attention towards holiday

Speaker:

right now.

Speaker:

For those who are here today,

Speaker:

want you to share with me who you are,

Speaker:

the name of your business,

Speaker:

and if it's not automatically obvious what it is that you

Speaker:

sell in terms of a product,

Speaker:

then we have a little bit more time as I was

Speaker:

anticipating attendance and the bashes is winding down as the year

Speaker:

is moving and holidays are approaching,

Speaker:

but you have a little bit more time here.

Speaker:

So what's going on with your business that you think we

Speaker:

should be aware of?

Speaker:

A promotion that's coming up,

Speaker:

a craft show that you're doing,

Speaker:

a new product that you want us to know about for

Speaker:

the holidays.

Speaker:

Also, if you have any collaborations that are happening,

Speaker:

feel free to tell us about those two.

Speaker:

This is your time to chat about yourself,

Speaker:

let us know more and promote yourself.

Speaker:

So with that,

Speaker:

Anita, I'm gonna let you go ahead and take it away.

Speaker:

Okay, sounds good.

Speaker:

All right,

Speaker:

well first of all,

Speaker:

thanks for having me.

Speaker:

And my name is Houseman and I am the owner of

Speaker:

the Hershey Gifting Company.

Speaker:

And I provide unique gifting and creative marketing experience for my

Speaker:

customers that help them to remember special people moments and their

Speaker:

life events.

Speaker:

I absolutely love helping others create something that will make a

Speaker:

huge impact that's within their budget and hopefully make them stand

Speaker:

out and be above the norm.

Speaker:

I work with corporate and small businesses,

Speaker:

and even not for profit groups using the creative marketing skills

Speaker:

that I have,

Speaker:

and hopefully to help them eliminate the high cost of advertising

Speaker:

needs that they can do it on their own.

Speaker:

My number one product is custom print and ribbon that I

Speaker:

can personalize to order the ribbon can have a message that

Speaker:

can be fully customized with either a personal sentiment or maybe

Speaker:

their logo or even a picture for those businesses who really

Speaker:

wanna make their brands pop.

Speaker:

So earlier this year I rolled out what I call our

Speaker:

drop shipping program for printed ribbon called Ribbon on Demand.

Speaker:

It has really taken off.

Speaker:

I'm so happy about it.

Speaker:

I'm always looking to collaborate with either small businesses or even

Speaker:

other drop shippers to help them generate additional revenue for themselves

Speaker:

that really requires little to no effort.

Speaker:

And if anybody would like to get started,

Speaker:

you can hit me up for a free consultation to discuss

Speaker:

how I can help you generate an income or promote your

Speaker:

business. And you can find me online at the hershey gifting

Speaker:

company.com or on all social platforms at the Hershey Gifting Co.

Speaker:

So I will be attending the Hershey October Fest on October

Speaker:

15th. I'm not sure when this is airing,

Speaker:

so hopefully stop by and meet us at the booth.

Speaker:

I'll be joining collaborating with marshmallow mba.

Speaker:

So we'll be there for that event from 11 until six

Speaker:

in downtown Hershey,

Speaker:

pa Chocolate Town usa.

Speaker:

Yay. So if you're listening to this today,

Speaker:

it is the 15th.

Speaker:

So jump over and go and see Anita and Amy at,

Speaker:

what is it called again?

Speaker:

October? October.

Speaker:

It's Chuck,

Speaker:

c h o c t o b e r Fest.

Speaker:

Wonderful. And where is it in Hershey?

Speaker:

Downtown Hershey,

Speaker:

Pennsylvania, right?

Speaker:

Yep. There's a park right at the center square.

Speaker:

Oh, that sounds like fun.

Speaker:

Yep. I wanna,

Speaker:

We went to come.

Speaker:

So tell us Anybody who's listening who is a handmade product

Speaker:

maker and you get a request for customization of your product,

Speaker:

but you don't have the services to do that,

Speaker:

or someone wants it branded like you're working with a small

Speaker:

business and they want their logo on it or something that

Speaker:

you don't have the capability to do,

Speaker:

don't lose the business.

Speaker:

If this is something where a ribbon or some type of

Speaker:

a label could be applicable,

Speaker:

you could then call Anita,

Speaker:

have her do it for you,

Speaker:

send it to you,

Speaker:

and you could then apply it to your product and provide

Speaker:

it to said customer.

Speaker:

So this is an opportunity to just keep this in your

Speaker:

back pocket,

Speaker:

that there is the resource out there to do that if

Speaker:

you wanted to offer.

Speaker:

And especially,

Speaker:

you know,

Speaker:

for the holidays too,

Speaker:

Custom ribbon.

Speaker:

I mean the ribbon is all about holidays,

Speaker:

right? On wreaths and everything else.

Speaker:

So that's an opportunity for you if you need it.

Speaker:

That way you don't lose the business and they move on

Speaker:

to somebody else.

Speaker:

You could still do it.

Speaker:

An additional plug for you there,

Speaker:

Anita. Thank You.

Speaker:

I appreciate that.

Speaker:

Okay. And get Your stuff in early because I'll tell you

Speaker:

what the orders are,

Speaker:

just like everybody's planning ahead because the supply chain Issues last

Speaker:

year. Yeah.

Speaker:

So well and even so this year,

Speaker:

right? It's so true.

Speaker:

And I'm seeing a lot of people offering discounts right now

Speaker:

too for those early orders.

Speaker:

Cause shipping is delayed as well if it can't be,

Speaker:

you know,

Speaker:

handed over personally.

Speaker:

Okay. All right,

Speaker:

Bridget, take it away.

Speaker:

Hi, I'm Bridget and thanks for the training.

Speaker:

I got a couple good ideas from hashtag about Oh good

Speaker:

Training. Yeah,

Speaker:

wonderful. I have a handmade doll shop.

Speaker:

Sunny's still away,

Speaker:

their dolls made to play with now,

Speaker:

but to keep forever and you can choose a ready to

Speaker:

ship doll in my shop or order a custom doll with

Speaker:

your choice of skin color,

Speaker:

hair color,

Speaker:

eye color,

Speaker:

outfit, color scheme.

Speaker:

And my best seller is the princess custom doll.

Speaker:

You can make it just like your little princess and it

Speaker:

comes with little fabric crown.

Speaker:

And I do have a gift for gift bus listeners and

Speaker:

the last part of October,

Speaker:

if you put gift bids in the notes at your checkout,

Speaker:

then you'll get an extra little set of jammies to go

Speaker:

with your doll.

Speaker:

So kudos for ordering early.

Speaker:

Again, you can have an extra special gift.

Speaker:

And if you're in North Austin next,

Speaker:

next month in November,

Speaker:

I'll be at the Round Rock Holiday Bizarre.

Speaker:

And the Georgetown Christmas shopping spectacular.

Speaker:

So you can come by and see sunny stories there and

Speaker:

I'd love to meet folks and talk to you And pick

Speaker:

out your do in person.

Speaker:

Yep, pick them out in person.

Speaker:

Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker:

How big are they,

Speaker:

Bridget? How big are the Dallas?

Speaker:

I Have a 12 inch or 16 inch dolls And age

Speaker:

appropriate. Like A three and up.

Speaker:

Three and up.

Speaker:

Okay, I love that because what a wonderful holiday.

Speaker:

Present a new dial that looks like you and I mean,

Speaker:

there are larger businesses that have done some of that customization

Speaker:

of dolls,

Speaker:

but yours even is even more customized cuz it's unique and

Speaker:

handmade. So Yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah, I can do special touches like glasses or freckles.

Speaker:

One person wanted seven freckles across their nose,

Speaker:

so they got it.

Speaker:

Oh my gosh.

Speaker:

So it could really,

Speaker:

really be customized to the little girl.

Speaker:

Yeah, that's a nice thing about little handmade businesses is we

Speaker:

can really make it just like you like it.

Speaker:

Oh my gosh.

Speaker:

Oh, what a wonderful holiday gift that would be.

Speaker:

And you have closed then too,

Speaker:

it sounds like You Get extra jams when you pick out,

Speaker:

you pick dress or little romper,

Speaker:

but for the holidays I have little specials and we're doing

Speaker:

a little jam's to go with it.

Speaker:

Oh my gosh,

Speaker:

that is so adorable.

Speaker:

Yeah. And where does everyone find your styles online?

Speaker:

So they can take a look.

Speaker:

Sunny doorways.com.

Speaker:

Okay, perfect.

Speaker:

Very exciting about the shows too.

Speaker:

My favorite,

Speaker:

I love,

Speaker:

love craft shows and festivals of all sorts,

Speaker:

but there's something about the autumn shows.

Speaker:

Yes. And walking into Christmas,

Speaker:

like even when they have the Halloween stuff and then the

Speaker:

Thanksgiving and you're already seeing the Christmas.

Speaker:

It's amazing.

Speaker:

I love that.

Speaker:

Yeah. Do you do shows all year round?

Speaker:

I just started last year and I did a fall,

Speaker:

you know,

Speaker:

for Christmas show.

Speaker:

And then I'm coming back this year.

Speaker:

I have more time now that school has started,

Speaker:

so There you go.

Speaker:

That's for sure.

Speaker:

Yeah, no,

Speaker:

I was just curious,

Speaker:

and I can't ask you this question,

Speaker:

but any listeners,

Speaker:

if you wanna respond to me about this,

Speaker:

I'd be curious what you see as the difference between the

Speaker:

holiday shows versus other shows you do earlier in the year.

Speaker:

Farmer's Market Summer shows a different story,

Speaker:

but like when they,

Speaker:

you do the shows in January through May versus as we're

Speaker:

going into Autumn,

Speaker:

what you see in terms of clearly more people are in

Speaker:

buying mode in the fall,

Speaker:

but I'm also interested in show attendance versus purchases.

Speaker:

Any comments?

Speaker:

I'd be really curious to hear all of your experiences.

Speaker:

Yeah, me too on that.

Speaker:

Yeah, it'd be interesting to know.

Speaker:

All right,

Speaker:

wonderful. Well,
